Basketball Queensland (BQ) is excited to welcome Chris Angus to the organisation as our new Operations Manager.
Having worked with Basketball Victoria, Southern Districts and Northside Wizards, Chris brings a wealth of experience to the role that will help further develop BQ competitions.
“I’m super excited, it’s a really great time to join BQ. There’s a change in CEO and it feels like a fresh start, so I’m super stoked to be looking after this role on the comps side of things," said Chris.
“Hopefully I can bring my own flavour to the role and that professionalism that’s already been there, that I can continue and build a legacy going forward in Queensland for the sport.”
Chris’ thorough understanding of the basketball landscape and passion to see the game succeed made him the standout choice for CEO Joshua Pascoe.
“Chris has such a long history with the game and his experience within basketball administration speaks for itself. He was the Operations Manager at Western Port Basketball and ran Basketball Victoria’s school competitions before moving up to Spartans and Northside, where he strived to better both associations.
“It’s a big year for BQ as we move into a new venue and continue to implement changes to improve the junior representative calendar, so I’m excited to see Chris step into the role and work with the team to bring basketball to the forefront of Queensland sport.”
Unfazed by scope of the role, Chris is eager to hit the ground running with NBL1 North and QSL seasons approaching.
“We obviously want to continually increase the profile of NBL1 North and QSL, school comps are continually growing and the influence that school basketball has is continually growing so making sure we are involved as much as possible in that space.
“I’d like to see some further development, even in a clubs’ championships down the track, for domestic clubs to have some sort of championships as well.”
