ABOUT
Basketball Queensland, in conjunction with Queensland School Sport stages the Champion Basketball School of Queensland (CBSQ) tournaments each year.
With the Open event originating in 1974 the event attracts a great deal of interest from secondary schools across the state each year with over 120 boys and girls teams competing across several open-age divisions.
The winning team from each Boys & Girls Open Championship Division gains automatic entry into Basketball Australia’s Australian Schools Championships held each year in December.
Final positions in the tournament dictate promotion and relegation, as well as wildcard opportunities. From 2020, CBSQ will be open to both automatic qualifiers, as well as wildcard applications, allowing schools who have previously been relegated, or who have not previously competed to apply for a position in the competition.
In 2022 BQ have introduced the addition of CBSQ Regional Tournaments to extend the opportunity to more regional communities to engage and participate in the competitions.
Nominations for all 2023 CBSQ tournaments are open now until Monday 3rd of April 2023.
